The Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi as part of his campaign efforts to mobilize Rivers people for his re-election has rallied for the votes of Asori Toru residents of voting age, on behalf of himself, Dr Dawari George and others who are vying for various elective positions.

Speaking at the rally ground in Asori Toru Local Government Area, which witnessed a large turnout of his supporters, the Chief Executive of the state charged Asori Toru people to vote not only himself but also Dr. Dawari and others into various positions for which the are contesting.

He observed that the greatest challenge facing the area is land on which infrastructures could be sited which has necessitated his government efforts in reclaiming shores by sand filling.

While defining development from the angle of the poor, Hon. Amaechi said his first line of development was education.

“When I look at development the first thing that comes to me is education. Secondly, health, because I lost my younger brother due to tetanus – a bite from dog. My brother died because we could not pay for ordinary tetanus injection”, said Amaechi.

He noted that his government built and equipped health centres across the various wards in the state to provide free medical services as a result of the above challenge.

He promised to name contractors handling uncompleted school projects at the next town hall meeting after his re-election for the people to hold them accountable.

“If those contractors do not want me to call their names at the next town hall meeting, they should go and complete the primary schools for us so that our children can go to school”, Amaechi warned.

He reminded the people that his government will not initiate fresh projects but will execute projects which the people agreed the government should site in their areas.

Earlier in his speech, Hon. Dr Dawari George who is representing Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives at the forthcoming general elections, thanked the governor for his achievements, support and charged his people to vote for him, as a vote for Amaechi is a vote for development.

While thanking his supporters for their show of solidarity, Dr. George promised to impact on their lives positively if voted and elected.

Prof. Tam David West, Chief A K Horsfall, Senator Wilson Aki, to Hon. Michael West among others who graced the rally ground, spoke favourably of Amaechi's achievements in education, hospital, road, security, etc and urged him to keep up the good work.

They observed that Amaechi has no opposition and promised to mobilize their people to vote massively for him to ensure his re-election.

According to Senator Wilson, “you are painting a new picture of Rivers State. You are building a new generation of Rivers State. Roads, hospitals and schools are built out of love and compassion, may God bless you”.
