KANO, May 06, (THEWILL) – Men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) between 8am and 9am on Sunday raided communities in Hotoro on the outskirts of Kano — a hideout of gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram — killing four men in a protracted gun duel.

Others who made a failed escape attempt were arrested.

A source who wanted to remain anonymous informed THEWILL that the JTF stormed the area in commando style, with more sophisticated weapons, to attack the Boko Haram members.

Confirming the raid, JTF spokesman, Lt. Colonel Ikedichi Iweha said four of the terrorists were gunned down and an undisclosed number of them were arrested just as dangerous weapons were recovered from their hideout.

Lt. Colonel Ikedichi Iwehia, who commended the teeming masses of the State for their unflinching support and cooperation, said the attack was a continuation of the military’s resolve to redeem the state from unnecessary attacks by the miscreants.

He noted that members of the public have been cooperating with the security operatives by furnishing them with useful information that have been yielding positive results in their battle against the Islamist fundamentalists.
