Nelson Mandela Hospitalised

SAN FRANCISCO, February 25, (THEWILL) – Former South African President, Mr. Nelson Mandela has been hospitalized in a South African hospital after he complained about recurring abdominal pains.

Mandela popularly called Madiba was admitted on Saturday morning.

The South African Presidency is closely guarding information concerning Mr. Mandela’s health.

President Jacob Zuma in a statement said, "Madiba has had a longstanding abdominal complaint and doctors feel it needs proper specialist medical attention.

"We wish him a speedy recovery and assure him of the love and good wishes of all South Africans and people throughout the world."

A South African Government official later said no surgical procedure would be performed on Madiba and that his admission was not an emergency.
