THE HONDA PLACE OPENS IBADAN BRANCH

The Honda Place (THP), authorised distributor of Honda range of automobiles, has opened an auxiliary shop in Ibadan, Oyo State, to cater for sales and after sales demands of prospective and existing customers who live in south west Nigeria.

Addressing automobile press at a brief ceremony to unveil the showroom / workshop in Ibadan, Mr. Vasant Rele, Group General Manager, After-sales, The Honda Place (THP), said the THP complex in Ibadan is critical to the growing profile of Honda automobiles in Nigeria. 'The south west Nigeria market was until recently a buyers' market but with the growing profile of the Honda brand we are compelled to take our services closer to our customers and prospective ones, which to us means, adding more value to the Honda brand,' Mr. Vasant explained.

He added that the significance of after sales in the cycle of an automobile cannot be overemphasised, urging motorists especially Honda customers to adhere strictly to manufacturers' service schedule in order to maximize the values of their vehicles. Also adding that the Ibadan service centre would provide swift and prompt service delivery to customers in and around south west region, Mr. Vasant said the inauguration of an auxiliary Honda service and sales shop in Ibadan couldn't have come at a better time.

Situated on 250sqm along Ring Road Ibadan, the workshop has capacity for 20 cars per day and equipped with (3D) three dimensional wheel alignment and balancing machines with other facility for speedy service as well as general body repairs. A spray booth would be installed soon, the management assured. Mr. Vasan who said the Ibadan shop was one of several others that would be established in different locations in Nigeria listed Enugu, Owerri, and Sokoto among similar upcoming subsidiaries that would be inaugurated soon.

He said the expansion was in line with Honda Motor Corporation's viewpoint of exemplifying 'respect for the individual' and improving service delivery and customer service management.

The workshop according to him 'has facilities that can check for engine oil leaks, top-up transmission oil, check for transmission oil leaks, power steering oil leaks and simultaneously, ascertain the condition of drive shaft booths and tie-rod ends,' Mr. Vasant assured. Other checks that could be done within seconds at the Ibadan centre include vital inspections on the condition of steering booths, shock absorbers, leaks and wears in suspension bushings.

Vasant said the workshop can achieve almost 99.9 percent proficiency in service delivery - making The Honda Place service centre one of the country's foremost precision workshops. Acknowledging this profile, Mr. Deepak Daryanani, sales and marketing director, The Honda Place said: 'We aim to be the best in West Africa in terms of service delivery and we wouldn't stop at making our workshop a one-stop centre for all Honda needs.'

Deepak said the new facility is one among several other workshops including Victoria Island, Apapa, Ijesha, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, kano, and Calabar, adding that plans are underway to commission service centres in Enugu, Maiduguri, and Sokoto States.
