BGL APPOINTS NEW BOARD MEMBERS

BGL Plc has announced the appointment of two additional non-executive directors to its Board of Directors. With a revised total of nine board members, the BGL Plc Board now comprises three executive directors and six non-executive directors.

Making the announcement at the weekend, Dr.Kalu Idika Kalu, Chairman of BGL Plc said 'It is my pleasure to formally welcome Mr. Ahmadu Musa Kida and Mr. Dafe Apkedeye (SAN) to our board. Musa Kida and Dafe Akpedeye have broad experience in business development, management and corporate governance.

As members of our board, they will bring immense benefits to the company and its shareholders. He further explained that the appointments were made to enhance the Corporate Governance structure of the company, adding that 'it is believed that a more diversified board better reflects the size, scale and complexity of the Company's operations and will accrue benefits in terms of business development'.

Mr. Musa Kida will bring to the Board of BGL Plc over 20 years' experience, some of which was at executive management level in the oil and gas industry. He holds a first degree in Civil Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Petroleum Engineering from the Institute Françoise du Petrol, Paris, France. He sits on the Board of many public and private companies. He was also a pioneer Non-Executive Director of BGL Plc, before the Board was reconstituted in 1998.

He is currently General Manager Onshore Development Projects, JV - Onshore Asset of EPNL-Total Upstream, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. In that capacity, four existing development/construction projects and a services department with a combined budget estimate of about US$1.73 billion report directly to him. He has also worked for the company in other capacities within the same period.
