NANS URGES END TO VOTERS' DISENFRANCHISEMENT

By NBF News

COMPLAINTS of missing names in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters' register should be addressed before the presidential and governorship elections, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed to the electoral body.

It noted that the development led to the disenfranchisement of eligible voters in the National Assembly elections, including the wife of the vice presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANP), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and in Edo State.

In Benin City yesterday, NANS President, Jude Imagwe, who made the appeal, commended Prof. Attahiru Jega for giving Nigerians an election that met both national and international expectations.          .

'This is the first time we are seeing an election where 'do-or -die' was not the slogan unlike the era of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, it shows that President Goodluck Jonathan is living up to his promise of equity and justice and as such should be trusted to steer the affairs of the country.'
