KWARA AGOG AS FASHOLA, AREGBESOLA, TINUBU STORM ILORIN FOR BELGORE

Kwara State is bubbling with excitement as the crème de la crème of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) will today gather in Ilorin, the state capital, for the official flag-off of the campaign of the party's governorship candidate, Mohammed Dele Belgore (SAN).

Expected at the event are Governors Babatunde Raji Fashola (Lagos); Rauf Aregbesola (Osun); ACN national leader and former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu; ACN National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and other top notches of Nigeria's leading opposition party.

All of them, including Belgore, will address the large crowd of party faithful and supporters at the event.

Slated to hold at LUBCON Baseball Park at Adewole in Ilorin from 10a.m., the rally comes as Belgore embarks on statewide tour of the state to sell his candidature to the populace now torn between choosing a better future the ACN is promising and the now double-faced status quo which the broom-wielding party says has kept the people in bondage for years.

Rafiu Ajakaye, media aide to Belgore, said in a statement that the mega rally would be the first of its kind in Kwara's political history and usher in the 'socio-political and economic freedom and genuine human and infrastructural development long denied our people when we go to the poll in April.'

The statement added: 'Contrary to the lies being bandied about by the reactionary forces now being rebuked by the people, today's rally will show to the world how popular Belgore and ACN are among the ordinary and freedom-loving people of Kwara.

'We urge our people to troop out en masse to listen to the progressive forces and governors whose sterling performances in their respective states have endeared our great party to the people in their states and nationwide. We also urge the good people of Kwara to shun any attempt from any quarters to provoke them into violent reaction, either through intimidation or threat of political punishment, which are the hallmark of the reactionary forces worldwide.

'Our party, the ACN, and indeed Belgore are reputed for constructive, issues-based campaign and non-violence, and our supporters are therefore urged to be law-abiding, orderly and peaceable before, during and after this epoch-making event.'
