Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar launched a scathing attack on president Goodluck Jonathan describing the president as “distrustful” at the Eagles Sqaure venue of the people's Democratic party, PDP Convention.

Atiku recalled the meeting that brought about the controversial zoning arrangement of the party and accuse the president of “ "throwing away the ladder that got him into his position."

But in his speech at the convention, President Jonathan dismissed Atiku's attack and simply said “ will not join issues with others because our delegates already know us very well."

He instead maintained that “"Within two years, every state will have a federal tertiary institution of education." He added that “I will give this country strong leadership to become developed."

Atiku told delegates "How you vote at these primaries will determine whether we (PDP) will win he election."

Mr.Abubakar continues his attack on the current government saying that his main opponent has left the country in a worse state than he inherited. He ends by asking delegates to make a 'historic decision'. He walks straight back to his seat again without acknowledging Mr. Jonathan.

Meanwhile, voting at the PDP's convention has started and as at the time of filing this report, President Jonathan is about to cast his vote.
