LENS, CAEN CLASH POSTPONED AGAIN

By NBF News

THE Ligue 1 clash between Lens and Caen was postponed for a second time yesterday due to heavy snow and is now to take place in the new year.

Originally scheduled for last weekend, the top-flight clash was rearranged for yesterday. However, the French League authorities and home side, Lens, confirmed that the match would have to be rescheduled again.

“Because of the heavy snowfall in the Lens region, the officials have decided to postpone the match between RC Lens and SM Caen,' the Ligue de Football Professionel announced. “The competitions committee will meet to arrange a new date for the match.”

Lens explained that its ground staff had made a determined effort to make the pitch playable but were foiled by the weather. Jean-Guy Wallemme's men had been hoping for a win that would have taken them out of the relegation zone.
