Delta Acting Gov. Nominates Six New Commissioners

ASABA, Nov 19, (THEWILL) - Delta state Acting Governor, Rt. Hon. Prince Sam Obi has nominated six commissioners and forwarded their names to the state House of Assembly for confirmation.


The move is courtesy of the resignation of some members of the Executive who are contesting for various political offices in the forthcoming 2011 general elections.


A memo signed by the Acting Governor dated November, 16th, 2010 and addressed to the Acting Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana reads: “In the exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 192 (2) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, I wish to submit as hereunder, the list of candidates for appointment as Commissioners and members of the Delta state Executive Council.” The nominees include: Chief Paulinus Akpeki, Mr. Ngozi Okolie, Mr. Leonard Esegbue, Barrister Brave Enodeh, Mr. Dumbiri Uweh and Barrister David Peter Ekereokosu. The Acting Governor, Rt. Hon. Obi appealed to the House to give the nominees accelerated consideration and confirmation. Meanwhile, the House has directed the nominees to without delay forward copies of their credentials to it and present themselves on the floor of the House for screening next week Tuesday at 10:00 AM.
