Arsenal Confirm Saliba's Extended Injury Blow Ahead Of New Season
Arsenal have been dealt a major setback ahead of the new season after confirming that defender William Saliba will spend an extended spell on the sidelines due to a back injury sustained during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The French centre-back had reportedly been managing discomfort before the tournament but the issue worsened during France's semi-final clash against Spain.
Saliba was forced off early in the game, raising immediate concerns over his fitness.
After returning to London, the 25-year-old underwent specialist medical assessments. Arsenal have confirmed that surgery will not be necessary, with the defender instead beginning a carefully monitored rehabilitation programme aimed at ensuring a full recovery.
