Tobi Amusan Qualifies For 2026 Diamond League Final
Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan has officially earned her place in the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final after delivering a series of strong performances throughout the season.
The former world champion secured qualification with 28 points from five Diamond League meetings, putting her among the leading athletes in the women's 100m hurdles.
The season-ending championship is scheduled to take place on September 4 and 5 in Brussels, Belgium, where the world's top hurdlers will battle for the prestigious Diamond League title.
Amusan currently occupies second place in the overall standings, trailing only American athlete Masai Russell, who leads the rankings with 32 points.
Both competitors still have opportunities to improve their positions, with Diamond League events remaining in London, Lausanne, Silesia and Zurich before the grand finale.
The Nigerian star has shown remarkable consistency throughout the campaign. She has recorded a season's best time of 12.28 seconds on three separate occasions, demonstrating the form that has kept her among the world's elite hurdlers. Russell, however, remains the fastest athlete this season after clocking an impressive 12.14 seconds.
Having previously claimed multiple Diamond League crowns, Amusan will travel to Brussels aiming to add another title to her growing list of achievements.
A victory in the Belgian capital would see her lift the Diamond League trophy for the fourth time in her career, further cementing her status as one of Nigeria's greatest track and field athletes.
With several races still to come before the final, athletics fans will be watching closely to see whether Amusan can build further momentum and challenge for the top spot in the standings ahead of the championship showdown.
