Promising Nigerian winger Qurib Adetola has taken the next step in his career after completing a transfer to Finnish champions HJK Helsinki from Derby Football Academy.

The 18-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Veikkausliiga club, with an option to extend his stay for an additional season.

The move represents a significant opportunity for the youngster as he begins his professional career in Europe.

Derby Football Academy will also benefit from the transfer, with the Nigerian outfit set to receive a compensation fee following the successful completion of the deal.

Adetola has wasted no time settling into his new environment and has already joined his teammates in training. The winger will now work towards earning regular playing time as he adapts to life in Finnish football.

His first competitive appearance could come sooner than expected. The teenager is in contention to feature for Klubi 04, HJK Helsinki's reserve side, in their upcoming Ykkösliiga fixture against Jippo on July 11.

The transfer highlights the growing reputation of Nigerian football academies in producing talented youngsters capable of attracting interest from European clubs.

It also offers Adetola a platform to continue his development in a competitive environment while gaining valuable experience abroad.

With pre-season preparations already underway, the young winger will be hoping to impress the coaching staff and establish himself as an important member of the club as HJK Helsinki prepare for another busy domestic and European campaign.
