NPFL: Kano Pillars Close to Reappointing Salisu Yusuf as Technical Adviser
Kano Pillars are on the verge of bringing back experienced coach Salisu Yusuf as the club's new technical adviser ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Yusuf, who previously handled the Sai Masu Gida during the 2021/22 campaign, is expected to lead the club once again as management seeks to rebuild the team following a disappointing season.
The veteran tactician recently parted ways with Benin Republic side Coton Sport after both parties agreed to end their working relationship at the conclusion of the last campaign.
During his time at the club, Yusuf guided Coton Sport to a second-place finish in the Championnat National du Bénin, a result that secured qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
His return is seen as part of Kano Pillars' efforts to restore stability and competitiveness after narrowly avoiding relegation from the NPFL last season.
The club struggled for consistency throughout the campaign and now hopes Yusuf's experience will help turn its fortunes around.
Yusuf is one of Nigeria's most respected coaches and is widely recognised for leading the Super Eagles B team to a runners-up finish at the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
If the appointment is completed, he will be tasked with rebuilding the squad, improving performances and helping Kano Pillars challenge for a stronger league finish in the upcoming NPFL season after escaping the drop by a slim margin.
