Besiktas Put Wilfred Ndidi Up for Sale in Massive Squad Overhaul
Super Eagles anchor Wilfred Ndidi could be on the move just twelve months after swapping England for Turkey, as Besiktas prepares to offload the midfielder in the upcoming summer window.
The Istanbul outfit is reportedly holding out for an offer exceeding €10 million, aiming to secure a quick financial upside on the €8 million sum they paid Leicester City to acquire him in 2025.
Ndidi’s sudden availability stems from a massive structural shake-up at the club following a highly underwhelming campaign.
Newly installed manager Vincenzo Italiano, who recently succeeded Sergen Yalçın at the helm, has made it clear that the defensive midfielder does not fit into his tactical blueprint for the 2026/27 season.
Compounding the situation, Besiktas is dealing with strict Turkish foreign player registry quotas and a bloated wage bill. As a result, fellow Nigeria-eligible defender Felix Uduokhai has also been placed on the chopping block.
While a glamorous return to the English Premier League with Manchester United was previously rumored, the Red Devils' recent midfield acquisitions have effectively shut that door.
Consequently, the wealthy Saudi Pro League has emerged as the frontrunner to secure the 29-year-old’s signature, with Middle Eastern scouts heavily tracking his situation.
Although Ndidi remains under contract for two more seasons and is expected back for pre-season training on June 28, the club's leadership is intent on pushing through a permanent sale before the new season officially kicks off.
