NPFL Champions: Rangers Reward Title-Winning Coach Ilechukwu

Rangers International have secured the long-term future of head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu after extending his contract for another year, keeping him at the club until 2027 following another successful campaign.

The Nigerian Premier Football League champions rewarded the tactician after he guided the Enugu-based side to their ninth league title, sealing the crown on the final day of the 2025/26 season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ikorodu City in Lagos.

Since arriving at Rangers in 2023, Ilechukwu has transformed the team into one of the most dominant forces in Nigerian football, delivering back-to-back NPFL triumphs and restoring the club’s winning identity.

His rise has further strengthened his reputation as one of the most respected coaches in the domestic league, with his tactical discipline and consistency earning praise across the football community.

The extension also reflects the club’s confidence in his long-term project as they prepare for another busy season that includes continental competition in the CAF Champions League.

Rangers will be aiming to improve on their previous continental outings, where they were eliminated in the preliminary rounds, and will now look to make a deeper impact under Ilechukwu’s continued leadership.

The coach, who also serves as part of the Super Eagles technical crew, remains one of the most influential figures in Nigerian football, balancing both club success and national team responsibilities as his profile continues to rise.
