Yaya Touré Named Slovan Bratislava Head Coach in First Senior Role

Slovan Bratislava have appointed former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder Yaya Touré as their new head coach, marking the start of his first senior managerial role.

The Slovak champions confirmed the appointment on Saturday, revealing that the 43-year-old Ivorian legend has signed a three-year contract with the club as they look to build on their domestic dominance and European ambitions.

Touré enjoyed a highly successful playing career, winning league titles in England and Spain, and establishing himself as one of Africa’s greatest midfielders.

Since retiring, he has been gradually moving into coaching, gaining experience within youth development and international setups.

Before taking charge at Slovan Bratislava, he worked with the Tottenham Hotspur academy and also served as an assistant coach under Roberto Mancini with the Saudi Arabia national team, gaining valuable exposure at top-level environments.

In his first message as head coach, Touré expressed excitement about the challenge ahead, describing Slovan as a historic club with strong ambitions and passionate supporters.

He said he aims to implement an attacking and dominant style of football while helping the team compete for more silverware.

Club officials praised his appointment, highlighting his experience at elite clubs and his leadership qualities, which they believe will help elevate the team’s performance both domestically and in European competitions.
