Brazil were held to a 1-1 draw by Morocco in their opening Group C match of the 2026 World Cup.

Morocco took the lead in the 21st minute after a well-worked attacking move. Ismael Saibari finished clinically following an assist from Brahim Díaz, giving the African side an early advantage and putting Brazil under pressure.

Brazil responded strongly and found their equaliser in the 32nd minute through Vinícius Júnior, who converted a fine attacking move to bring the South Americans back into the contest before halftime.

The match became more tactical in the second half, with both teams making several changes to influence the game.

Brazil introduced players like Fabinho, Matheus Cunha, and Danilo, while Morocco also rotated to maintain their intensity.

Chances were created on both ends, but solid defending and goalkeeping kept the score level. Brazil enjoyed slightly more possession, while Morocco remained dangerous on counterattacks.

Statistically, Brazil held 52% possession compared to Morocco’s 48%, with both sides registering competitive passing accuracy and shot numbers. However, neither team could find a winning goal despite late pressure.

The game ended 1-1, leaving both teams with a point each as they continue their World Cup campaign, with qualification from the group still wide open.
