Man City £120m Bid for Elliot Anderson Rejected by Nottingham Forest

Manchester City have reportedly had a major transfer offer turned down after submitting an improved bid worth £120 million for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, in what has become one of the standout stories of the current transfer window.

The Premier League champions are understood to have stepped up their pursuit of the England international, submitting a package made up of an initial £106 million fee plus additional performance-based add-ons.

However, Nottingham Forest remain firm in their stance and have rejected the proposal, signalling their intent to keep hold of one of their most important midfield assets.

City’s interest in Anderson comes as Pep Guardiola looks to reshape his squad following the departure of key midfielder Bernardo Silva.

The 23-year-old has emerged as a top priority target due to his versatility, energy, and ability to influence games in both defensive and attacking phases.

Despite Forest’s rejection, Anderson is believed to be open to a move to the Etihad Stadium, with personal terms not expected to pose any issues if both clubs eventually reach an agreement. This gives City encouragement that a deal could still be revived before the window closes.

Manchester United were also previously linked with the midfielder but are said to have stepped away from the race, unwilling to engage in a bidding war at such a high valuation.

Anderson enjoyed a strong campaign with Nottingham Forest, playing a key role in their European qualification push and Premier League survival.

Since joining from Newcastle United in 2024, he has developed into one of the league’s most promising young midfielders.

As negotiations continue behind the scenes, City are expected to remain persistent in their pursuit, though Forest’s resistance suggests any potential deal will require an even higher offer to break their resolve.
