Arsenal Prepare Mega New Deal for Mikel Arteta
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is on the verge of signing a new contract that will place him at the very top of the Premier League’s managerial pay structure, according to reports.
The new agreement is expected to make the Spaniard the highest-paid head coach in English football as negotiations between both parties move closer to completion.
Discussions over the revised deal have reportedly accelerated in recent weeks, with optimism growing inside the club that everything will be finalised before the start of the new season.
Arsenal’s ownership, led by the Kroenkes, are said to be fully behind the decision as they continue to back Arteta’s long-term project at the Emirates Stadium.
The 44-year-old’s current contract has about a year left to run and is believed to be worth in the region of £10 million annually.
However, the new deal is expected to significantly increase that figure, potentially doubling his earnings and placing him among the highest-paid managers in world football.
If completed, the contract would see Arteta earning close to £20 million per year, a level previously associated with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola currently remains the Premier League’s top earner, but that position is expected to change following developments surrounding his future at the club.
Arsenal view the proposed contract as a reflection of Arteta’s impact since taking charge in 2019. Under his leadership, the club has undergone a major transformation, returning to consistent title contention and improving performances across all competitions.
Since his appointment, Arteta has maintained an impressive win rate of just over 60 percent, a record that has strengthened his case for a substantial reward.
Club officials believe his tactical progress, squad development, and long-term vision justify the investment.
Elsewhere in the league, new Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is also believed to be among the better-paid coaches, though still below the level Arteta is expected to reach.
Once finalised, the deal will not only secure Arteta’s future at Arsenal but also underline the club’s commitment to competing at the highest level both on and off the pitch.
