Super Falcons Open Camp Ahead of Senegal Friendlies

Nigeria's senior women's national team, the Super Falcons, have commenced preparations for their upcoming international friendly matches against Senegal as attention gradually shifts towards the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The team's training camp officially opened in Ikenne, Ogun State, with players expected to report and begin preparations under the supervision of head coach Justine Madugu and his technical crew.

The camp will serve as an opportunity for the coaching staff to assess the squad and fine-tune tactics ahead of the continental championship.

Madugu recently unveiled a 23-player roster for the two friendly fixtures, which are expected to provide valuable competitive action before the start of WAFCON in Morocco later this year.

The matches will take place at the Remo Stars Sports Complex, one of the country's leading sporting facilities.

The first encounter between the two African sides is scheduled for June 5, while the second match will be played three days later.

Both teams are expected to use the games to test their readiness and build momentum before heading to Morocco.

For the Super Falcons, the friendlies represent an important stage in their preparations as they seek to extend their dominance in African women's football.

Nigeria remains the most successful nation in the history of the competition and will be aiming for another strong outing at the tournament.

At WAFCON 2026, the Falcons have been drawn alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi in Group C. The group is expected to provide a stern test as Nigeria pursues a place in the knockout rounds.

Beyond the continental title, there is additional motivation for participating nations, with the tournament also serving as a pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
