Poland’s Iga Świątek continued her strong run at the 2026 French Open by advancing comfortably into the third round after a straight-sets victory over Czech teenager Sara Bejlek in Paris.

The four-time Roland Garros champion delivered a controlled performance on Court Philippe-Chatrier, winning 6-2, 6-3 in just over an hour and a half.

Despite the hot conditions in the French capital, Świątek maintained her rhythm and composure to seal another routine win on her favourite clay surface.

The Polish star, who is aiming to reclaim the title she last won in 2024, remains one of the top contenders for the championship.

Her consistency at Roland Garros has been remarkable, as she has now reached the second week of the tournament in every appearance since her breakthrough.

After the match, Świątek admitted that the weather conditions have been challenging but emphasized that adapting to the heat and court speed will be crucial as the tournament progresses. She also noted that success in Paris often depends on endurance as much as skill.

Świątek’s next potential opponent could be either former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko or fellow Polish player Magda Linette, setting up a more difficult test in the next round.

Ostapenko, in particular, has a strong head-to-head record against her, having defeated her in all of their previous meetings.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian star Elina Svitolina also progressed smoothly into the third round with a dominant straight-sets win over Kaitlin Quevedo.

Svitolina, who recently captured the Italian Open title, continues to show strong form as she builds momentum in Paris.

With several top players advancing, the women’s draw is heating up as the tournament heads into the crucial stages at Roland Garros.
