Manchester City delivered a commanding performance at the Etihad Stadium as they defeated Brentford 3-0 in their Premier League Round 36 clash on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side controlled the game from start to finish, dominating possession with 60% and dictating the tempo throughout the encounter. Brentford struggled to cope with City’s movement and pressing, managing only a few meaningful attacks.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Jérémy Doku opened the scoring in the 60th minute with a composed finish after a flowing City move. The goal lifted the home side further, and they continued to pile pressure on the visitors.

Erling Haaland doubled the lead in the 75th minute, once again proving decisive in front of goal. The Norwegian striker was heavily involved in City’s attacking play and remained a constant threat inside the box.

In stoppage time, Omar Marmoush added the third goal, finishing off a well-worked team move with an assist from Haaland to seal a comfortable victory for the champions.

Brentford attempted to respond but were largely contained by City’s defensive structure. They registered limited shots on target and found it difficult to break through the midfield control of the hosts.

The match also saw several bookings, with Bernardo Silva, Nico O’Reilly, Matheus Nunes, and Marmoush all receiving yellow cards in a physical contest. Brentford also picked up cautions as frustration grew in the second half.

City recorded 25 total shots compared to Brentford’s 10, underlining their dominance in the match. With 397 completed passes at 85% accuracy, Guardiola’s men once again showcased their trademark control and efficiency.

The result strengthens Manchester City’s push in the Premier League title race, while Brentford are left reflecting on a difficult outing against one of the league’s strongest sides.
