NLO Announces Dates and Teams for 2025 Cup Competition
The Nationwide League One (NLO) has officially announced the kick-off date for the 2025 NLO Cup, set to run from Monday, December 8 to Wednesday, December 10. The three-day tournament will be hosted at the Bwari Stadium in Abuja, bringing together eight selected clubs from across Nigeria to compete for the prestigious trophy.
The participating teams include Dante FC (FCT), Likeminds FC (FCT), Jnr Danburam FC (Daura, Katsina), HB FC (FCT), Lapai FA (Niger), FC Nasarawa, Galadima FC (FCT), S1 14 FC (Nasarawa), and Simonben FC (Kaduna). These clubs were chosen based on their performances in the league and regional competitions, promising an exciting showdown for fans and football enthusiasts.
The NLO Cup has previously served as a platform for showcasing emerging talent and providing competitive exposure for teams outside the top tier. The inaugural edition was won by Tudun Wada FC, who defeated Palm Syrup in a thrilling final match, setting a high benchmark for this year’s competition.
Organisers of the 2025 edition aim to maintain a high standard of competition while ensuring fair play and sportsmanship among all participating clubs. Fans are expected to throng the Bwari Stadium to witness matches that could highlight the next generation of Nigerian football stars.
The NLO Cup also serves as an opportunity for scouts and sponsors to identify promising talent, while offering clubs a chance to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season. With the tournament less than a month away, preparations are already underway to ensure smooth operations, security, and an engaging experience for attendees.
As the countdown begins to December 8, excitement is building around which club will lift the 2025 NLO Cup trophy, continuing the tradition of competitive football in Nigeria’s second-tier league system.
