NPFL: Super Eagles Goalkeeper John Noble Joins Rivers United On Free Transfer
Former Enyimba and Super Eagles goalkeeper, John Noble, has completed a free transfer move to Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Rivers United.
Noble, 32, signed with Rivers United after ending his stint in Tanzania, where he featured for Tabora United and Singida Fountain Gate. His contract with Singida expired at the end of the 2024/2025 season, paving the way for his return to Nigeria.
The experienced shot-stopper has already resumed training with the Port Harcourt-based club as they prepare for the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign under the guidance of head coach Finidi George.
Confirming the move, a club official said, “Noble brings great experience and leadership to our squad. He has played on the continent before and understands the pressure of top-level football.”
Noble previously won the NPFL title with Enyimba in 2023 and was a key member of the team during their successful domestic campaign. His addition to Rivers United is seen as a significant boost to their goalkeeping department, especially with their eyes set on a strong run in the CAF inter-club competitions.
While Noble hasn’t featured recently for the Super Eagles, his form and leadership could reignite interest from the national selectors, especially with Nigeria facing a busy 2026 World Cup qualification schedule.
Fans of Rivers United have welcomed the move, hoping Noble’s presence will bring stability and confidence at the back. The club is also expected to announce a few more signings in the coming weeks as preparations intensify for both domestic and continental duties.
