By NBF News

Laolu Akins
Seasoned music producer, Laolu Akins, has described the upcoming joint performance by juju legends, King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey, as a great experience for the country's music industry.

Akins, who had produced winning works of major artistes such as Shina Peters, Adewale Ayuba and Salawa Abeni, made the remarks as a follow up to his appointment as the producer of the concert tagged One Nite Stand, an initiative of GrandFaaji Concepts Limited.

'This definitely is a great thing to happen in the history of Nigerian music; an unimaginable collaboration by two music giants who have been great ambassadors of Nigerian performing arts, specifically, music,' Akins said in a statement. 'This will be a bomb of a show. As a producer, it's a chance to collaborate with two highly respected geniuses of Nigerian music.'

According to Mr. Azuka Jebose-Molokwu, CEO of GrandFaaji, organisers of the concert holding at the Eko Expo Centre on October 22, Akins is the only professional believed to be able to work with the legendary musicians 'to blend their two styles to make it sweet harmony.'

A hugely talented drummer, Laolu Akins is the 'L' in the musical group, BLO, which rocked the music scene in Nigeria from the mid-70s and had been a member of other sensational pop groups such as Clusters International, Afro Collection and Salt (with Ginger Baker).

Also a repertoire consultant, he had also been the invisible hand behind other successful artistes such as Mike Okri, Onyeka Onwenu, Christy Essien-Igbokwe and Funmi Aragbaye.
