2023 CHAN: Algeria Secures Victory Over Côte D’ivoire To Reach Semis

Hosts, Algeria have qualified for the semi-final of the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) as they secured a 1-0 victory over Côte d’Ivoire through late Aimen Mahious penalty.

With the game headed for extra-time, Algeria were awarded a penalty in stoppage time.

Mahious stepped up and converted from the spot kick in the 96th minute to send Algeria into the last four.

Just 20 minutes into the game Algeria goalkeeper Alexis Guendouz was sent off, but Côte d’Ivoire failed to takeadvantage as they too were reduced to 10 men as KouassiAttohoula was given matching orders on 34 minutes.

Algeria will face the winner between the Ghana and Niger Republic in the semi-final next week Tuesday.
