Serena Williams Ruled Out Of 2022 Australian Open 

Tennis legend Serena Williams has been ruled out of the 2022 Australian Open following a recent battle with injuries.

The 40-year-old is not on the competition's entry list released on Wednesday and she has confirmed that the decision was very hard to take.

"While this is never an easy decision to make, I am not where I need to be physically to compete," she said.

"Melbourne is one of my favorite cities to visit and I look forward to playing at the AO every year. I will miss seeing the fans, but am excited to return and compete at my highest level."

Serena Williams lost to eventual champion Naomi Osaka in the semi-final of the 2021 edition of the competition.
