Odion Ighalo has revealed the reason behind his decision to reject the mouth-watering offer by his parent club, Shanghai Shenhua.

The Former Watford star turned down £400k-a-week deal in other to continue his fairytale journey at Manchester United.

Ighalo initially joined Manchester United on loan in January transfer window on a six months deal which was supposed to end in May.

The outbreak of the coronavirus affected the deal as the premier league was put on hold, so there was a need for a renewal or a return to China, where he was offered a staggering £400k-a-week deal.

Ighalo decided to sign a renewal to stay at Manchester United until January 2021, he has opened up on his reason for staying at Old Trafford, thus, missing out on the megabucks on offer at Shanghai Shenhua.

“Sometimes money is not everything in life, playing at Man Utd has been my childhood dream, and it is not a decision I made just for no,” Ighalo told Brila FM.

“I chose Man Utd over a return to Shanghai for the future, and people will realize that I made the right decision when the time is right.

“Money is good, Money is very, very good, but Man United is my dream, I cannot jeopardize that dream because of money.

“Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t say Money is not good, but I didn’t just make the decision, I prayed about it, and I believe something good can even come from the one year I will be spending in Manchester United.”

Ighalo scored four goals in eight appearances for The Red Devils before the Premier League was suspended due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
