Victor Moses determined to make Chelsea impact under Conte
tacking midfielder Victor Moses has been one of Chelsea’s well-known “preseason heroes” since his arrival at the club from Wigan in 2012, but in the four seasons since, he’s only had the chance to actually play for Chelsea in the first one. He’s been sent on loan to three different Premier League outfits in the last three years.
Last season, the 25-year-old spent his time at West Ham, making 27 appearances and scoring 2 goals for a side that finished 7th in the league — three places and twelve points above his parent club. Having signed a new long-term contract just prior to that move, Moses remains committed to trying to make it at Chelsea. He’s hoping Antonio Conte will take notice.
“It’s a very big season for me, there is a new manager here. I have to show my talent and make sure I work hard to get into his thoughts. I will keep working hard and see what happens after that.”“We have a new manager and he knows what he wants from us. We are still getting used to the way he wants us to play, but it’s going to be good.”

The hard-working winger didn’t have a remarkable spell at the Hammers, but he qualifies as homegrown, and with three years remaining on his current deal with the club, he could be an interesting option to keep in the squad. Given the glut of wingers and loanees (including Juan Cuadrado apparently) all competing for a few spots behind the established first-team attacking midfielders, Moses will have his work cut out for him. He did get off to a good start on Saturday, putting in Chelsea’s best shift in the 2-0 loss to Rapid Vienna, and hopefully catching the new manager’s eye as well.
