Iwobi Returns To Team After Food Poisoning Scare

SAN FRANCISCO, March 22, (THEWILL) – Arsenal youngster, Alex Iwobi, has recovered from a food poisoning scare and has returned to the Super Eagles training camp ahead of the double-header Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt.

Iwobi was hospitalised briefly in Abuja after he suffered from food poisoning, according to Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia and did not train with the rest of the Super Eagles squad on Tuesday morning.

“He suffered from food poisoning and so was not part of the training. But his condition is stable,” Siasia had said.

However, Toyin Ibitoye, the spokesperson of the Super Eagles, has declared that Iwobi is now hale and hearty after the scare.

“Alex is sitting with Mikel in the bus on the ride to Kaduna,” he told TheCable.

“Alex ate lunch with everyone before we left for Kaduna. He and Mikel sat behind me in the bus.

“He did not train with the team this morning because he had what is called traveller's diarrhoea, reason the coach asked him to rest.

“I can assure you that Alex is going to train with the rest of the team in Kaduna later this evening.”

He has played two friendlies for his the country, but is yet to play an official game since he switched his international allegiance and is eager to play.

Other players who have arrived the Eagles camp include: Ahmed Musa, Mikel Obi, Carl Ikeme, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Etim Matthew, Ifeanyi Matthew, Oghenekaro Etebo, Efe Ambrose, Godfrey Oboabona, Orji Kalu, Fenando Adi, Umar Aminu, Aaron Samuel, Moses Simon, Odion Ighalo, Chibuzor Okonkwo and Kelechi Iheanacho.
