The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has set up a 10-member committee to work out a zoning arrangement for key political offices in the state ahead of the 2011 general election.

At the inauguration of the committee in Abeokuta on Tuesday, the state Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Joju Fadairo, who performed the assignment, said the constitution of the body was in compliance with relevant sections of the party's constitution.

The committee, which has as its Chairman, the Ogun East PDP Elders' Council Chairman, Chief Kolapo Ogunjobi, is to zone the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly seats to various aspirants within the party.

Fadairo said, 'As a matter of fact, zoning arrangement is allowed to some level in the party. It is for the convenience of our party to show that we believe in orderliness and it is in line with Articles 7 (2c) and 9 (2), which highlight the obligations of the party to its members.

'The job is tasking and we want you to ensure that justice is done to all concerned. We rely on your sense of judgment and responsibility to bring us a good zoning formula. We are not zoning everything. What we are zoning now is the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly.'
