BEVERLY HILLS, July 21, (THEWILL) – Following speculations of his death in the custody of the State Security Service (SSS), the agency Tuesday presented Mr. Gordon Obua, the former Chief Security Officer (CSO), to ex President Goodluck Jonathan, to the public.

Obua was presented at an unscheduled press conference at the SSS headquarters in Abuja, where he has been held since Thursday last week.

Obua had embarked on hunger strike to protest his detention conditions and subsequently fainted over the weekend. He is said to be suffering from hypertension and diabetes.

He was given medicare at an undisclosed facility and discharged today (Tuesday).

His family and lawyers say he has not allowed been visitation nor has he been allowed access to his doctor or medication.

During his address to the press, where he was not allowed to take questions, Obua said he was alive and well, assuring members of his family that he would be fine.

He said he was in SSS custody to give account of his 6-year posting as the Chief Security Officer to former President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that he was still an employee of the agency.
