PVCs Collection: Thursday, Friday Are Work-free Days In Yobe

BEVERLY HILLS, February 04, (THEWILL) – Civil servants in Yobe State have been given Thursday and Friday as work-free days by the State Government to enable them go and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The state government announced the holiday in a statement issued Wednesday by the Special Adviser to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam on Press Affairs and Information, Mallam Abdullah Bego.

The statement said the approval for the holidays was to enable workers across the state to collect their PVCs from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) distribution centres in their respective areas.

“His Excellency the Governor urges all workers and people across the State who have not yet collected their PVCs to use the period to collect their cards as a step towards exercising their civic duty to vote during the forthcoming elections,” the statement added.

It however maintains that banks and other financial institutions operating in the state would still be allowed to open for business during the two days.

According to the statement, all business and commercial activities will continue throughout the state during the two-day PVC-collection period.
