UN Committee on the Rights of the Child to review Venezuela, Morocco, Fiji, Singapore, Hungary, Croatia

GENEVA, Switzerland, August 25, 2014/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child is meeting in Geneva from 1-19 September to review children's rights in the following countries:

Venezuela (1-2 Sep); Morocco (3-4 Sep); Fiji (4-5 Sep); Hungary (9-10 Sep); Croatia (15 Sep)

The above are among the 194 States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and are required to undergo regular examinations of their record before the Committee of 18 independent experts.

The Committee will also review Venezuela, Morocco, Hungary and Singapore (9 Sep) under the Optional Protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict, and Venezuela and Hungary under the Optional Protocol on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography.

The Committee will engage in dialogue with the respective State delegations at Palais Wilson, Ground Floor Conference Room. The sessions, which begin at 10:00 Geneva time, will be webcast live and can be viewed here: http://www.treatybodywebcast.org/.

The CRC will publish its concluding observations on Tuesday 23 September.
