Obama secures release of US soldier held in Afghanistan

United State President Barrack Obama moments ago announced the release of Sergeant Bowe  Bergdhal, an

American soldier detained in Afghanistan since 2009.In return, Obama disclosed that five Afghan Talibans detained in Guantanamo Bay would be released as part of a emotional prisoner swap.In a televised broadcast in the White House, Obama, who was flanked by Bowe's parents, Bob and Jenny, promised that plans were afoot to shut down Guantanamo Bay, a detention facility that has drawn criticisms from human rights activists across the world.

The US president promised to secure the release of all US citizens “unjustly detained” in any part of the world.
