SAN FRANCISCO, May 21, (THEWILL) â€' A helping hand came , Wednesday, for some of the victims of the five-year-old Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State as a group of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state donated to them some food items, drugs and money.

Operating under the aegis of NYSC/ NEMA Vanguard for Community Development Service, the Corps members made the donation to the victims of insurgency currently receiving treatment at the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, the state capital.

Receiving the Corps members at the hospital on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Laraba Ahmed Bello, the secretary of the hospital, Malam Yakubu Kirawa, who conducted them round the emergency male and female surgical wards where the victims are receiving treatment commended them for their bravery and love for the people of the state.

'This has shown that you understand the peculiarity of the challenges as it has no religious or tribal inclination, but that a certain minority choses to misbehave by causing injury to the nation as a whole, a situation which has made it imperative for all to unite against the evil,' she said as she commended them for deciding to come and serve in the state despite the insecurity situation.

According to her, state government has been assisting all victims of the insurgency brought to the hospital through the provision of drugs and other medical needs. She disclosed that many who were admitted have since recovered and have been discharged.
