Yobe Government Approves N187 Million For Boko Haram Victims

The Yobe State Government has  approved the sum of N187.4 million as compensation to those whose houses were burnt and the people innocently killed by unidentified gunmen or bomb blast in the state.

Also, the government approved N259.4 Million for the payment of registration fees for government sponsored candidates for WAEC and NECO May/June and June/July 2013 respectively.

The good news came to the Victims of Boko Haram  shortly after an emergency  executive council meeting held today in Damaturu the state capital.

“The council hope the money will assist those whose houses were burnt while relatives of those killed by the insurgents will be assisted” says the state Commisioner of Home. Affairs Information and Culture. Hon Goni Fika

Fika who made the revelation to reporters at the end of the council meeting added that the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) had earlier carried out assessment and established that ninety nine people were confirmed to have been innocently killed while one hundred and thirty five others were attacked and houses burnt during the attack.

Asked on if the money will cater for worship places burnt by the insurgents, the commissioner says the money approved will cater for all that was destroyed by the insurgents.

The commissions stated that  the state governor Alhaji Ibrahim Geidam is more than ever determined to revamp the educational sector in the state adding that ” we will continue to sponsor our students for WAEC and NECO”
