Why Early Release Of C of O is Not Feasible - ACN

By RiversACN

The Rivers State Chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria says the proposed plan by the State Government to release duly signed land titles and Certificates of Occupancy is not feasible.

Governor Chibuike Amaechi represented by his Deputy Tele Ikuru, while receiving members of the National Council of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveys and Valuers at Government House, Port Harcourt said duly signed land Titles and Certificates of Occupancy on lands in the State would be released 30 days after submission of requisite documents.

A press statement by the ACN issued and signed by the Publicity Secretary, Jerry Needam, the party said for that to be feasible, all administrative bottle-necks on the way must be dispensed of, such as the Commissioner for Urban Development, Mr Tammy Danagogo, under whose watches in the ministry, all manner of fraudulent practices are being carried out.

The party regretted that extortionists at the ministry of Urban Development are on the prowl collecting illegal monies from land developers and investors which work against government's well intended policies.

The ACN further regretted that rather than do something about this extortion the Commissioner, Mr Tammy Danagogo keeps denying its existence, an indication that he is not willing to change to all allow quick and easy discharge of services by government in this regard to succeed.

The ACN charges the Rivers State Government to demonstrate sincerity in its crusade against corruption, by sacking the Commissioner for Urban Development, Mr Tammy Danagogo from the ministry with a view to re-organizing all the departments of the Ministry.

The party also said frequent travels of the Governor Amaechi within and outside the country that make it impossible for the governor to work two full days a month in Government Port Harcourt, will also be another challenge to signing title documents with 30 days.

The party tasks Rivers State Government to tackle corruption and ensure his campaign promises are fulfilled rather than shielding corrupt officials of government and globetrotting.
