WARMTH AT SUNSET

By Adeola Ikuomola

There is a bride in my right eye
For a lyrically groomed left eye
Day and night I kindle the glow
For spousal warmth at twilight

There is a big organ in my heart
For your ten soft fingers to play
Rhythmically outwardly I dance
Into spousal warmth at twilight

Retire not into strange bedrooms
For the windows lead to funerals
Drink not from strange fountains
They are mourners' water bottles

Squander not your marital energy
On the wandering cloudy droplets
Deny me not our conjugal synergy
My heart is your warmth at sunset

How many a man has dated a new era in his life from the reading of a book.
