By NBF News

Following reports credited to Dr. Sam Jaja, Deputy National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that the party was planning to conduct fresh congresses in Ogun State, Chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Adebayo Dayo, has described the plot as 'an affront on the judiciary and the rule of law, which cannot stand the test of the law.'

He appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan and Minister of Justice and the Attorney-General of Federation, Mr. Bello Adoke, to arrest the move, which he said might precipitate a slide into lawlessness.

Dayo said Adoke, as the Chief Law Officer of the country, has the 'onerous responsibility to ensure obedience and compliance with the laws of land,' adding that anything short of this was retrogressive and unhealthy for the development of any society.

Dayo, in a statement in Abeokuta, said the plot being orchestrated by 'some powerful people, who believe they are above the law despite the validly elected state executive, will not work.'

He accused the National Secretary of the party, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, of nursing a 'hidden agenda.'
