EX-MINISTER TASKS GOVT ON AGRIC INVESTMENT

Chief Mike Aondoakaa, the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, has urged all tiers of government to invest in agriculture.

Aondoakaa, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Miva Rice Company Ltd, made the call on Thursday in Makurdi in an interview with journalists.

H e appealed to the government, corporate bodies and wealthy individuals to initiate ideas and policies that could help transform agriculture.

He also stressed the need for the federal and state governments to create the enabling environment to assist people to venture into commercial agriculture.

The former Minister of Justice urged farmers to increase rice production to discourage the importation of foreign rice into the country.

He expressed his determination to expand his company so as to increase food production in Benue in particular and Nigeria at large.

“The expansion of my company will go a long way in creating job opportunities for the teeming youths.”

He also called on wealthy Nigerians to establish industries to assist the government to reduce the unemployment rate. (NAN)
