Jos Panics For Fear Of Fresh Attack

JOS, July 18, (THEWILL) - Tension in Bukuru area of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State was pervasive on Wednesday evening as rumours of threats of fresh attacks on the community spread.

Offices closed down for the day earlier than usual, shops in the area remained locked for most of the day, and residents left their houses to stand outside for fear of being trapped indoors by any incident.

The fears could have been heightened by news that two other rocket-propelled guns were fired on Tuesday night into the community, after the one that killed a seven-year-old boy in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to a resident of the community, one of the fired shots landed near the base of the Joint Military Special Task Force (STF) in Bukuru.

Public Relations Officer of the Police in the state, Emmanuel Abuh, confirmed the development but said the propelled rocket did not injure anyone neither did it damage any property, He assured that security agencies were in control of the situation.
