SAN FRANCISCO, July 14, (THEWILL) – Results of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State have continued to trickle in, in a manner suggestive of an emphatic victory in favour of incumbent governor, Adams Oshiomhole.

Figures obtained by THEWILL show that ACN led many units in Oredo Local Government, Ovia North East, Etsake Central Local Government, Orhiomwhon Local Government, Oredo Local Government, Owan West Local Government, Egor Local Government, Ikpoba-Ohka Local Government and in many others.

Already, even the most senior members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are reported to be crestfallen and to have conceded victory, after the party humiliatingly lost in wards considered as its strongholds.

Notable among such unexpected losses was that in Ward 2 Unit 7 in Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Area, the ward of Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, chief of staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, where PDP recorded an inferior 129 votes to ACN’s 169. The scenario at the ward of seemingly ageless PDP hatchet man, Chief Tony Anenih, was similarly embarrassing.

Most harrowingly, governorship candidate of the PDP, Retired General Charles Airhiarvbere lost his ward, Garrick Memorial School, Oredo, to the ACN, scoring 33 votes against ACN’s 270 in Unit 21, 38 votes to ACN’s 360, 32 votes to ACN’s 254 in Unit 19, and 65 votes to ACN’s 351 in Unit 18. Summarily, Airhiarvbere scored 168 votes in his ward while ACN recorded a whopping 1,275 votes.

The looming loss for PDP has been accompanied by discordant tunes both among its leadership and its rank and file. In a short messaging service (sms) communication with THEWILL, a high-ranking official of the patently subdued party hinted at an intra-party revolution.

“We need reinvention!” he wrote. “Our leaders need to step aside. Revolution is imminent within Edo PDP.”
