COMPLAIN ON RETIREMENT BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION

Distinquish Senator kabiru Gaya, trouble and anquish has come upon me and I pray my distinquish and faithful servant of God listen to my cry. I wish you assist a poor old retiree receive his gratuity since my effort as to that effect has proven abortive.

Thus sayeth the Lord God, Whoso stopeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself and shall not be head. The new pension scheme of 2004 is an Act introduced to destroy retirees before their time because if this scheme was for the wellbeing of retirees then why are some organisations excluded eg, the military. This is the white collar crime in disquise.

I am Effiong John Nse retired after 35 years of service in the Nigeria Prison Service with rank of Deputy Chief Inspector of Prisons on grade salary compass 11, step 8. I earned this paramilitary salary structure for 2 years before my exit in November, 2011. It will interest you to know that a retireee's gratuity is kept and managed by Pension Fund Administrators approved by National Pension Commission. I was informed by the Pension fund Administrators eg, Crusader Sterling Pensions Ltd that my retirement benefits made up of accrued rights i.e my gratuity plus my entire contribution is N6,999,148.00 and that National pension Commission has approved N1,749,787.04 and the balance of N5,249,360.96 is to be managed by them and same spread over my lifespan as monthly pension.

I wrote and requested for 75% to enable me raise a home and train my children who are in tertiary institutions but my pension fund administrator replied and informed me to write to National Pension Commission which I did and all I receive from Pencom was that they is no PFA/Commission to review my lumpsum upward.

In view of the above, I wish my distinquish Senator help the poor for I have no voice for this is more than a dead trap for retirees who had no extra income apart from their salary hoping that when they retire their gratuity could assist them facilitate to a reseanable extent if not completely the challenges facing them. I manage crisis while in service, reformed and transformed inmates but out of service PENCOM is managing my gratuity.

I earlier mentioned white collar crime in this scheme because on the 28th March,2012 an alert came to my phone from my Pension Fund Administrators i.e Crusader Sterling Pension Ltd informing me that my employer remitted into my account the sum of N102,908,217.00 but when I called and asked how come for I was not expecting that much, the replied that it was a mistake. Some state government do not fall under this scheme and some federal government organisation, is this law only for Prisons and Immigration? is Nigeria not one again?

Sirs, if there is no more monthly pension, let PENCOM approve the balance of N5,249,360.96 being my gratuity and forget about spreading over my lifespan when I don't have a home or train my children.
