Sierra Leone Presidential Aspirant Julius Maada Bio Returns Home to a Tumultuous Welcome After His World Tour.

By Theodora Ibekwe

When the Presidential Aspirant arrived at the Lungi International Airport on his return from his world tour if you don't know what is going on you will think the country is celebrating its independence. Thousands of people came out during the two days celebration regardless of the rain and everything along the way, office workers took a self day off to attend the welcoming party, the whole country was in a party mood it looked like a public holiday. upon arrival the youthful and handsome Bio smiled and wave to his people, fighting to hold back tears of joy. During his speech to the SLPP Supporters, Party delegate and Sierra Leoneans at large at the Party head quarter he expressed his undying love for his nation, saying that Sierra Leone is one people one nation, there should be no ethnic division in the country as the country belongs to its citizen.

He stressed on the need for discipline amongst the people, telling them that the country has gone through hell and back and the only way it can go now is forward in a positive direction under his leadership. Julius Maada Bio is an astonishing character. He is the only core member of the National Provisional Ruling Council (NPRC), that ruled Sierra Leone from 1992 to 1996, that has thrived, and remained a towering political figure in Sierra Leone's political landscape. As a president Maada Bio will do a better job as head of state.

Today Sierra Leoneans have crawled through the rebuilding process, many believe that president Koroma has failed them. Unemployment is very high, corruption is ripe, nepotism is high up there.

On November 17th, 2012 Sierra Leoneans will have to choose their president, they have the choice to choose between: continuing to propagate the harmful divisions in the country or promoting unity and peace; reclaiming our youth from violence, joblessness and poverty or continuing to use them as agents of terror; giving women an important place in the society or continuing to relegate them to the margins of society; privileging patronage and incompetence or rewarding competence, hard work and character. Julius Maada Bio and his running mate Madam Kadi Sesay's ticket embodies the bridge of change that Sierra Leone needs.

- There is serious petrol shortage all over the country, it happens almost every month.

- There is no money at the banks after printing so much money.

- There is no water for the people in Freetown for months now.

- After 4 years in power there is still rampant power outage or no power in some areas in Freetown (It is worse now), after spending so much on electricity, the President's Priority on the Agenda for Change

- Home grown products are more expensive nowadays (rice, corn, palm oil etc, etc.) with all the big talk and massive donor input to boost the agricultural sector.

- Free Health care is a big mess.

With all of the above one can really tell how hard working the present regime is, the president need not to be giving money to people to thank him for his hard work, he should rather make reference to the above for his re-election. The president has a strong case for re-election if he stays working hard like this

Sierra Leonean's do not let this present regime fool you again with more promises that will never be delivered, it is time to choose your destiny and that part is safe with Julius Maada Bio.
