FG INTRODUCES NEW VACCINE FOR IMMUNISATION

The federal government has spent over one billion naira in the last two years to expand the nation's cold chain infrastructure at all levels in preparation for incorporation of pentavalent vaccine into Nigeria's Immunisation schedule.

Similarly, over ten million doses of the pentavalent vaccines have been paid for by the federal government for distribution to 13 states and FCT which are the parts of the country implementing the first phase of the pentavalent vaccine immunization.

The Executive Director and Chief Executive, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Ado J. G. Muhammad disclosed this at the launch of the official incorporation of the pentavalent vaccine into Nigeria's immunization schedule held at Eneka Primary Health Care Centre in Obio-Akpor Local Government of Rivers State.

In a press release signed by the head of the Public Relations unit of NPHCDA, Sa'adu Salahu, Head, PR Unit of NPHCDA, theĀ  Executive Director disclosed that over 17,000 health workers have also been trained to assist in the administration of the pentavalent vaccine in over eight thousand health facilities.
