Multiple Blasts Rock Churches in Zaria, Kaduna

SAN FRANCISCO, June 17, (THEWILL) – Reports reaching THEWILL, Sunday morning, say another round of suicide bombers have attacked churches in Zaria and Kaduna.

According to sources, the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) was the target of the attack in Wusasa area of Zaria.

An eyewitness at ECWA church said the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber who forced his way into the church premises after being stopped by the security guards at the gate. The bomber however managed to detonated the bomb in front of the entrance.

There have also been reports of a second and third explosion at the CKC Catholic Church in Sabon Gari and Shalom Chuch, in the Tirkaniyaa area by Goni Gora neighbourhood of Kaduna.

Casualty figures are yet to be confirmed at the time of this report.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but it mirrors the style of the dreaded Islamist sect Boko Haram.
