By NBF News

The TY Danjuma Foundation (TYDF), an organisation making grants to Non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Nigeria, has secured the services of a new interim executive director/CEO, Dr. Edugie Abebe.

Her appointment followed the voluntary resignation of the former executive Director/CEO of the foundation, Ms. Thelma Ekiyor,  who served as the foundation's first chief executive from January 4, 2010 to June 10, 2012.

Dr. Abebe is a focused medical professional and a seasoned top flight administrator, and an alumnus of the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

She has served her country with distinction in several capacities. First, in the Federal Ministry of Health as the national coordinator of HIV/AIDS control in Nigeria, National Coordinator Non-Communicable Diseases Control Programme and as director public health.

Abebe was also the interim coordinator/chief executive of the national programme for immunization (NPI). She was appointed federal permanent secretary in 2008, first in the office of the head of civil service of the federation and later in the federal Ministry of Transport. Dr. Abebe retired from the federal civil service in October 2010.

In a brief introductory meeting with management and staff of the foundation on Tuesday, Dr. Abebe called on the entire staff members to work as a team and strive to be the best they can be.
