ABUJA, June 04, (THEWILL) - The Senate on Monday deliberated on Sunday’s Dana airline’s crash that killed all 153 people on board, resolving that the country could ill afford a return to the “anxiety-prone” dark ages of the aviation industry.

Reacting to the tragedy, Senate spokesman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe demanded prompt and thorough investigation not limited to Dana accident but cutting across all the airline operators.

“Senate demands nothing but a holistic investigation of the remote and immediate causes of the Sunday crash devoid of rhetoric,” he said. “Senate would also insist that the probe, this time, should not be limited to Dana Airline and its fleet, but all the aircrafts being operated in the country. We had thought that Nigeria has landed in the golden era of safe aviation industry, where all the standard codes that conform to international best practices are complied with.”

Regretting that the latest incident ominously suggests that the country may be headed to the aviation dark ages, he conveyed the Senate’s resolve to support every effort that would strengthen the industry, keep the sky safer and prevent the industry from retrogressing.
